Library
A library is an organized collection of books, and non books other printed materials, and in some cases special materials such as manuscripts, films and other sources of information. Collections can be print, audio, or visual materials, including maps, prints, documents, microform (e.g. microfilm/microfiche), CDs, cassettes, videotapes, DVDs, video games, e-books, audio books and many other types of electronic resources. The places where this material is stored include public libraries, subscription libraries, and private libraries; material can also be in digital form, stored on computers or accessible over the Internet.
Ranganathan’s Five Laws
The Five laws of library science is a theory proposed by S. R. Ranganathan in 1931, detailing the principles of operating a library system. Many librarians worldwide accept them as the foundations of their philosophy.
These laws are:
1.Books are for use.
2.Every reader his [or her] book.
3.Every book its reader.
4.Save the time of the reader.
5.The library is a growing organism.
About RITE Central Library
The RITE Central library was established in the year 2010. The state-of-art of world class RITE Central Library is well equipped with multimedia facilities. The Central Library is an essential component of RITE’s research and education mission. The combination of carefully selected traditional and digital resources via browsing interface and supported by exceptionally fast response service, provides RITE community with a Central Library that is worthy of this world class institution. It starts Koh Open Source Software, which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all the library activities. It is a lively place of the institute providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge. It has a rich collection of over 5491 books, 170 CD’s on different subjects such as Electronics, Electrical, computers, Marketing, Mathematics, Engineering, Chemistry, physics, basic science, electromagnetic , Information Technology, Human Resource Management, Management, Finance, accounting, English communitarian etc .It houses 51 national and international journals. The Central Library provides the facility to all users to browse the library collection through online catalogue-OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). RITE Central Library is well equipped with precious books, Textbooks, Reference books, Periodicals and Journals. The students can freely access to these books and references. It is supported by a large well-ventilated 3rd floored reading-room. The library is enriched with digital facilities and computer systems .Free access of this is made available to the students, research workers, faculty, and staff in near futures. RITE Central library is Institutional member of DELNET.
Library Mission
The mission of Central Library is to serve as the intellectual platform and facilitating resource of the institution, providing high quality academic and research materials, services and gateways to information to meet the needs of RITE communities. The Central Library is to deliver world-class library and information services to meet the needs of the local, national and international scholarly community and to support the Institute’s mission to contribute to society through the pursuit of education, learning and research at the highest international levels of excellence.

RITE Central Library is the intellectual heart of RITE. It will strive for excellence in support for the learning, teaching and research mission of institution by:
• Providing the best services, strongest collections and state-of-the –art information technologies for faculty, students and staff.
• Empowering users to locate evaluate and use information available in a variety of innovative and traditional formats.
- Selecting, acquiring, organizing, preserving and providing access to library materials and resources.
- Establishing itself as a leader in information management
- Fostering a work place culture where library staffs are valued for their knowledge & contributions and responsible to the needs of institution in the rapidly changing information environment.
- Promoting creative and critical thinking through information literacy.
- Proactively visualizing and planning for the emerging needs of its users.
Library Rules
The Central Library is primarily meant for the Students, Faculties, and Administrative Staff of the Institute. These rules are framed to help and promote, rather than to constrain the use of library materials and services.
Working Hours
Library remains open on all working days except national holidays/declared holiday by the BPUT throughout the year. It is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on all working days form Monday to Saturday.

Borrowing Rights
• The books will be issued to the students, faculties and staff of RITE on all working days from 9.00 AM to 4.30 PM
• Four books will be issued to students against Identity Card for 15 days.
• Four books will be issued to faculties for 20days and 2 books will be issued to administrative staff for 15days.
• Books may be re-issued only one time.
• The Librarian can recall any book on loan prior to due date, if it is required in the library urgently.
• Late fee Rs.2/- per day per book will be charged on over due books. If the borrower is unable to return/renew the book on or before two months from due date, he/she will be liable to pay double the cost of the book along with 60 days late fee.
• The Librarian may at her/his discretion stop issue of any book.
General Instructions
• Borrowing privileges are given only to the Faculty, Administrative Staff and Students.
• Personal belongings are not allowed inside the library
• It is requested to all readers not to write, mark, mutilate or deface books/periodicals. In case any damage is caused to reading material, the person concerned will be required to pay double the cost of that material
• Before leaving the issue counter, please check your book (s), which is borrowed by you. At the time of return, if the book is found to be damaged in any way, double cost of the book will be charged
• Smoking, Eating, Drinking and Using Mobile Phone, playing games in mobile/ Laptop is not permitted within the Library.
• All articles being taken out of the library are subject to inspection at the exit gate.
• All readers are required to observe discipline in the library
• The Librarian is authorized to terminate the membership of any borrower if he/she is found guilty of inappropriate behavior.
• It is the responsibility of every borrower to keep the library Identity Card in safe custody, in case of loss immediate report should be made to the library.
• Before leaving the institution a "No Dues certificate" from the library has to be acquired
• Readers should not put books back into the shelves once taken out for consultation and should leave these on the reading tables.
• Mobile phones should be switched off before entering the library. Any violation will result in confiscation of the instrument and a fine of Rs. 500/-
